Are You Planning a Vacation to Hawaii? Here’s How To Plan Your Relaxing Getaway.

Hawaii has always been and still remains, one of my favorite places to visit.  Maui has a special place in my heart as it is where my husband and I honeymooned. I really enjoy so much about the island and was excited to return. Now that travelers can safely enjoy the islands I wanted to share some helpful tips so you can plan your relaxing getaway.

The Flight
The Safe Travels protocol requirements were fairly easy as my flight was nonstop from Los Angeles on Hawaiian Airlines.  Currently, the state of Hawaii requires 10-day mandatory self-quarantine for all travelers arriving in the Hawaiian Islands remains in effect. ​

A pre-travel testing option will allow travelers an alternative. They offer a seamless plan with testing and screening that I can’t say enough good stuff about. If you have the opportunity to travel with a partner providing this service, it is the way to go. Must like many airports across the country travelers must follow the guidance of their air carrier and upon landing maintain physical distancing, mask-wearing and participate in sanitation processes. Temperature scans were taken via thermal temperature screening and facial-imaging technology which made it fast and efficient. All safety information can be found here.

Hotel Check-In
Upon our arrival at The Fairmont Kea Lani, our temperature was checked and leis were presented on a tray. The stunning resort has partnered with top experts to implement new standards of safety and enhanced operational protocols and procedures. The check-in process is smooth with scanning the QR code that is assigned once the Safe Travels application is completed.  There is a plexiglass barrier between the representative at the front desk and the guest, plus contactless check-in is provided.  

I observed constant deep cleaning, everyone wearing masks and hand sanitizer throughout the property.  I felt very comfortable and safe which made the relaxing easy! The hotel is steps from Polo Beach, the Villas at Fairmont Kea Lani are perfect for a family or multi-couple Maui beach vacations. There are three pool areas and a spectacular beach so there are plenty of options to enjoy the Maui weather.  They recently renovated their adults-only pool and enhanced it with stylish cabanas.  The resort has rentals of paddleboards, kayaks, and other beach necessities.  There is something for everyone when it comes to water and fun in the sun. 

Food & Beverage Experience
Breakfast at the Kea Lani has a few choices that include a quick-service coffee shop and a full-blown beautiful buffet complete with my favorite sticky buns on the planet. Attendants accompany guests through the line due to Covid protocol and it is an efficient way to enjoy it safely. Dinner at Ko Restaurant is a must so you can indulge in a flavorful mix of Asian and Hawaiian foods. The ahi on a rock is outstanding as is the “oushi” sushi.   I loved a cocktail that was suggested by my server with strawberry purée and Maui Ocean Vodka.  Lunch poolside or at the grab and go spot are both easy and tasty.  

My time at The Fairmont Kea Lani was just what I needed.  I was able to decompress, relax and recharge. I’ve said it before and I will repeat, the beach is my happy place; I feel both so alive and so relaxed at the same time.  This resort is spectacular and I can’t wait to return.  I wanted to provide you with a fact sheet below so you can make sure you are well prepared.
