This is an invitation to reconnect. To rethink how we travel. By slowing down. And really getting to know a place. Travel deeper and take a trip that gives back – to Hawaii and to you.
I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to learn about Malama during my recent trip to Hawaii. It is a wonderful way to live life by “taking care” of the earth, ourselves, and each other.
There are more than 70 resorts and hotels throughout the state that have created Malama packages with the opportunity to extend your stay for an extra night at no cost so you can participate in a Malama activity. I found my experience to be incredibly meaningful and know you will as well.
The Travel Mom Presents: An Invitation to Malama Hawaii
The premiere episode of “Mindful Travel” – a documentary series hosted and produced by The Travel Mom.
The Story Behind The Story
I wanted to do more than just make a post about the experience, so I spent a couple of extra days in Hawaii to produce a short documentary for you about Malama, but there’s more to the story.
This wasn’t a planned production, so what you see what made possible by three things: the people you see featured in it, who took the time to share their stories, my son Charlie, who was on the trip with me, and our passion for producing stories about destinations that highlight their history, people, and help motivate you to discover the magic of a place yourself.
An Unplanned Production
It was the perfect opportunity to capture such a great story, especially since Charlie is a documentary producer and editor, who helps shoot and edit our branded content series. There was only one problem. This production wasn’t planned so he didn’t have his regular set of equipment with him. What did we have? An iPhone and a drone.
The Adventure Begins
Fortunately, my son, who has the same ‘go get them’ and ‘anything is possible’ attitude was on board to make it happen.
I started making calls, setting interviews, and researching while he prepped the equipment. Before we knew it, we found ourselves on location producing what marks the launch of our new Mindful Travel Series. This episode, all about how you can Malama (care for) Hawaii is the premiere episode of the series. I hope you enjoy it.
I can’t wait to read your comments! I hope you’ll share this with your friends. If you are inspired to visit Hawaii, please message me so I can share more information with you!
