It has taken me way to long to visit the "Big Easy" but I am happy to say that visiting New Orleans did not disappoint. There are so many great things to do and see in New Orleans making it a great vacation destination for families, friends, or solo travel. Here are the 5 Reasons why you must visit New Orleans:
The Food - come hungry so you can enjoy everything New Orleans has to offer. This foodie destination has amazing local cuisine famous for its dishes like gumbo, jambalaya, and of course the beignets! See my blog with the best places to eat in New Orleans.
The New Orleans French Quarter - this famous and historic section of city is famous for its architecture, dining, and all the excitement on the famous Bourbon Street. Enjoy all the action at any hour of the day or night.
Streetcar Rides - hop on and take a ride on the historic street car! The St Charles Streetcar Line is the oldest continue operating street railway system in the world and just so happens to be the best way to see and tour the city.
History - the city of New Orleans is rich with history from sites like Jackson Square, St Louis Cathedral, the Cabildo, and the Presbyter. There are many great ways to learn about the city like Vue Orleans which teaches you and lets you have some of the best views of the city from their high up observation deck.
The Bayou - jump on the boat and head out to the nearby swamp and bayous as you will get up close and personal with many species of animals including alligators !

New Orleans Mardi Gras festivities begin in January so be sure to plan a trip here within the January - February time frame to enjoy the full experience. The weekend before Fat Tuesday is the ideal time to visit as there were be big parades and events in the city.
All that Jazz - you can't come to New Orleans and not enjoy some music. The music scene is second to none and you can easily catch a live jazz or blues performance at a performance venue or even a local restaurant. There is so much culture and nightlife to experience.
