A stay at the fabulous and fun San Diego Mission Bay Resort

San Diego is one of my favorite destinations in California and in the entire United States. There is so much to do and see from their modern and fun downtown scene to all of the amazing nearby scenic beaches. It is very easy to understand why San Diego is called America's Finest City. There are many great places to choose from when booking a vacation with the Mission Bay Resort being one of the best choices. Here is my full review and everything you need to know before booking a stay at the fabulous and fun San Diego Mission Bay Resort.

THE LOCATION

The San Diego Mission Bay Resort is located on Mission Bay which is centrally located from all of the amenities and attractions you will want to visit during your stay. The property is only 10 mins away from downtown San Diego and the airport which is perfect if you are visiting from out of town. Be sure to check out the San Diego Travel Guide for 10 things you must do and see on your visit.

This waterfront property is the ultimate outdoor destination as the Mission Bay parks and manmade bay is only steps away. Additionally, some of the best beaches in San Diego are just a short drive away like Pacific Beach and Mission Beach.

Centrally located between Downtown and La Jolla, you can easily access all of the best and must see attractions that San Diego has to offer from Famous Balboa Park to Torrey Pines.

THE PROPERTY

Mission Bay Resort has a large footprint making it feel like you have tons of free space to enjoy. As you arrive to the resort you will check in at their open air lobby which is perfect for enjoying the year round San Diego beach weather. The resort does a great job with having plenty of comfortable places where you can enjoy the outdoors.

There are multiple 2 story buildings and one large tower that houses all of the resort’s guest rooms. Many of the ground floor rooms have large grass areas just outside the door and some even have fireplaces perfect for a romantic evening or making s'more with the family. These rooms also allow for quick access to enjoy the pool or beach areas.

Out back is the heated outdoor swimming pool and two hot tubs. There are also some outdoor games like chess and ping pong for you to enjoy. You can enjoy all of the sunshine or shade as there are tons of palm trees and rentable cabanas.

You can enjoy drinks and food directly at your lounge chair or walk to the back and enjoy food at the outdoor bar and dining area which overlooks beautiful Mission Bay.

It is easy to stay fit and moving in whether you visit the fitness center or take a walk or jog around the paved pathway along the water. The resort also offers bikes for rent in addition to their beach volleyball and outdoor tennis courts.

Water Activities are the best part of this resort which make it stand out from many of the other properties in San Diego. Head down to the water and you can rent jet skis, paddle boards, kayaks, or even a private boat.

THE ROOM

Enjoy their beautiful coastal inspired hotel rooms that feature large private balconies with amazing views of the bay. The guest rooms are very spacious and have great beds and very large TVs. The top floor rooms on the two story buildings have high vaulted ceilings. The bathrooms are very well appointed and have great showers. The upgraded rooms have larger sitting areas and a wet bar.

DINING

There are multiple places for dining or grabbing drinks on property.

Covewood is a great indoor /outdoor restaurant that makes a great place to enjoy the fresh Pacific Ocean breeze during breakfast or brunch. They also have a beautiful bar and outdoor dining area with fire places perfect for year round enjoyment.

Plaza Del Sol is a great spot for grabbing cocktails or enjoying some sharable small plates. This is a great place to get out of the sun and enjoy the shade under their sun cloth canopies and palm tree filled outdoor area.

Solaria serves Mexican food and drinks and is your place for poolside dining and drinks.

Mission Joe is the perfect spot for a quick drink or açaí bowl before heading out to explore the City.

The resort also has a marketplace which has snacks, drinks, deserts, clothing, and other items like sun screen or things you may need for your stay.

This resort is an amazing place for hosted events. They have huge indoor ballrooms as well as an outdoor tented event space perfect for weddings, conferences, or parties.

And like any luxury getaway resort, be sure to enjoy the spa after a day of water activities on the bay or at the many nearby amazing beaches.
