Grand Hyatt Kauai Hotel Review

A Hawaiian vacation is always at the top of most travel bucket lists. All of the major Hawaiian Islands are perfect destinations for a vacation but the Island of Kauai is one of my favorites. The Garden Isle is so lush and beautiful with stunning beaches. This island has the perfect combination for guests who love to stay at resorts and adventure and explore. The Grand Hyatt is easily one of the best resorts on Kauai. Here is everything you need to know about this property and how to plan a perfect vacation.

THE ISLAND

There are many amazing Hawaiian Islands to choose from with Kauai being the most beautiful of them all! This island is smaller than the busier island of Oahu and even more laid back than the island of Maui. This is a great destination for someone looking for a laid back vacation.

Additionally, if you are looking for some sightseeing or adventures, Kauai offers some of the most amazing hikes, beaches, and views for you to explore.

Check out my Kauai Travel Guide for everything you need to plan your trip.

LOCATION

The Grand Hyatt is located at the southern end of Kauai on Poipu Beach. The resort is a short 25 minute drive from Lihue Airport (LIH). You can take a ride share like UBER from the airport but I recommend renting a vehicle so you can explore the best of the island!

Pro Tip - if you are going to spend full days at the resort and don't need a rental car you can rent a vehicle directly at the hotel to save money!

THE RESORT

As soon as you arrive on property to Check In you know you are in a tropical paradise. With the open air lobby, you have breathtaking views of the beach, mountain ridges, and lush landscaping on property.

The property boasts amazing grounds featuring beautiful gardens, koi ponds, waterfalls, and man made rivers that contrast beautiful with the lush green landscape. Out back you will find a beautiful and large beach in addition to a plethora of options to enjoy from a giant zero entry sand lagoon, multiple pools including an adult only pool, hot tubs, water slides and an amazing lazy river. The water features are all surrounded by black lava rock making for super picturesque scenes.

THE ROOMS

The hotel rooms are beautiful decorated with traditional Hawaiian design and aesthetic. You will enjoy a beautiful balcony with views of the island or beach which will not disappoint.

If you are looking for added luxury then you can book a stay in one of their many suites for upgraded ammenities including larger bathrooms and separate sitting/ living rooms.

DINING

There are tons of great dining options at the Grand Hyatt Kauai and you may find yourself never needing to leave the property!

Tidepools is their signature restaurant surrounded by the koi-filled lagoon and waterfalls. This restaurant is a great place for dinner and the food matches the amazing ambiance. Enjoy fresh seafood or meats and indulge in the amazing flavors.

Stevenson's Library is a great place for Sushi and Drinks. Their fresh fish and custom sushi rolls are delicious. They have a huge bar as well if you're looking to enjoy some evening drinks.

Ilma terrace is a perfect place for breakfast, brunch, or lunch, and includes a large Buffett that will keep you more than satisfied !

Seaview Terrace is a perfect open air location for morning coffee and bakery, a place to enjoy sunset cocktails, or a dinner with live entertainment.

Hale Nalu is your poolside go to for drinks, snacks, and lunch and will serve you directly to your lounge chair or cabana. Enjoy frozen drinks or some fresh poke!

Captain's Bar is the go to poolside location for cocktails or lunch!

For the ultimate romantic getaway, be sure to book the Share the Stars Private Beachside Dining! Listen to the waves crash under the stars in your private cabana while you enjoy a romantic four course meal with your loved one!

ACITVITIES

Play a round of golf at Poipu Bay golf course with stunning views overlooking the beautiful blue Hawaiian ocean and backdrop of the lush tropical mountain ridges.

Pamper yourself to a Spa day at Anara Spa. Enjoy a facial, massage, and rejuvenating day in an amazing facitility including steam rooms, saunas, lava rock showers, and pool.

Hike/walk along the bay for the Maha'ulepu Heritage Trail that takes you to beautiful cliffs overlooking the stunning beach views! This easy walk is a great place for a morning walk before or after breakfast!

OVERALL REVIEW

This resort is easily one of the best accommodations on the island. This is a must book property when planning a trip to Kauai. This resort is located in a much quieter part of the island compared to the busier Princeville on the North side of the island. It is also closer to the airport and some of the island's best adventures. You can't go wrong with booking a trip to the Grand Hyatt Kauai.
