Phuket has always been a Travel Bucket List destination. With our flights booked, I was searching to find the best accommodations for a relaxing vacation. There are a lot of great luxury properties but Sri Panwa stood out as a must visit property during our visit.
LOCATION
Sri Panwa is located in Cape Panwa, the south east region of Phuket. When you think of Phuket most people think of the popular Patong Beach on the west side known for its resorts and night life. Cape Panwa is a quieter area of Phuket making it a more desireable location for someone looking for a relaxing vacation removed from the craziness.
Two other big reasons Cape Panwa is a desireable part of Phuket is that it is only a 20 minute drive to Old Town Phuket (a popular tourist area to visit) as well as a short drive from all the major ferries which will take you to other islands. Island Hopping or day boat excursions are a MUST in Phuket as there are so many amazing things to see.
If you are looking for a boat day excurions then you will defintiely want to consider planning a trip to the Phi Phi Islands, Phang Na Bay, or Krabi.
THE RESORT
Sri Panwa is a large 40 acre tropical hillside jungle boasting beautiful views of the Andaman Sea and its nearby islands in the distance. With a large footprint the resort feels secluded and private.
There are private Tuk Tuk cars that will quickly pick you up at a moments notice and drive you anywhere on the resort whether you're heading for breakfast, the beach, or a restaraunt.
The resort only has a small private beach area but there are multiple fun and large pool areas with coastal views. These pools will feel very quiet as all of the accomodations have private pools.
ACCOMODATIONS
There are many types of accommodations to choose from when booking a stay on property.
The pool suites are the base level room category and are by no means standard. These rooms are spacious and comfortable and feature a private balcony with your very own pool.
If you are looking for a more premium product, the Penthouse Ocean rooms, are nearly twice as large and include a separate closed off bedroom, small kitchen & mini bar (re-stocked daily), a dining table, and a large living area with an oversized couch. Outside you will find a large outdoor seating area and your own private infinity pool.
For the ultimate expereince, the ultra luxurious 1 and 2 bedroom villas provide larger accomodations both inside and out. The outdoor area is huge with a larger pool and many areas to lounge. These layouts are so beautiful and spacious that these guests will find themselves never wanting to leave the villa.
DINING
Your day starts with a delicious breakfast (included with your stay) where you will enjoy a la carte options plus a wide range of buffet options serving multiple cuisines (Asian, Indian, etc). I enjoyed starting every day with one of their fresh juices (the watermelon juice was my favorite) and an Iced Thai Coffee. There were delicious sweet breakfast treats as well as many different types of eggs including crab omelettes, egg benedits, and more. No breakfast is complete with out a stop to the pastry section providing a large selectrion of treats that were different each day.
There are so many different dining options for lunch and dinner.
Baba Iki was a favorite serving high quality sushi. You can order A La Carte or book the Omakase meal. There is also a Tepenyaki station as well.
Baba Nest is a must book during your stay. This rooftop lounge serves tapas and cocktails with unparalleled views of Phuket and the neighboring islands as you watch the sun set behind the mountain islands.
Baba Soul, Baba Chino, and Baba Hot Box serve Thai, Chinese, and steaks/seafood respectively. Be sure to stop by the Soul Cafe and enjoy a fresh smoothie, coffee, or pastry during the day as well.
You can also enjoy on demand catering to your room which is perfect for the larger Penthouse and Villas.
HEALTH AND WELLNESS
The gym here is very large and features a lot of great equipment. There is a separate stretching and pilates area as well as a large selection of weight lifting equipment including a squat rack, machines, and dumbbells. You will even find a Thai Boxing Ring in addition to some Tennis courts just outside the gym.
You can’t go to Thailand and not book a spa treatment! From the moment you arrive you are pampered as you will recieve a cold scented towel and refreshing Tea upon arrival (a much appreciated gift as it is usually very hot in Thailand) while you select and finalize your treatment plan.
We booked a signature massage which started with a foot massage in a warm bath before going over to the massage beds for an outstanding treatment. The best part is that the rates for these massages are way more affordable than a comparable luxury spa in the US.
ACTIVITIES
The resort has water activities available for free. We rented out the resort's spead boat for a private guided tour to the nearby Phi Phi Islands. You could book a shared tour from many operators in the area but the resort's private excursion was easily worth the extra money for the convenience and luxury. The staff was great and we were able to customize our trip picking where we would want to go based on what we wanted to do (AKA what pictures and views I wanted to capture!)
Had we stayed longer in Phuket I would have also wanted to visit Phang Nga Bay, home to famous Hong Island, James Bond Beach, and other beautiful areas.
OVERALL
The resort did not disappoint. The rooms were super spacious and elegantly designed. The serivce was always good from nightly turn down service to the staff at the restaraunts. The resort felt very quiet the entire time which made for a relaxing vacation. If you are planning a trip to Phuket then I definitely would recommend a stay at Sri Panwa.
