How to Have a Blast on Your Labor Day Road Trip
Labor Day Weekend has historically been a popular time for road trips. With so many people itching to get out and have a vacation experience, there will be a lot of them hitting the road for a local getaway. Here are a few important things to know before you load up the car and go someplace.
Preparation is key!
Make sure your vehicle is road trip ready by checking fluid levels, tire pressure, and updating your emergency kit. Put together a sanitation sack with disposable gloves for gas pumps and restrooms, as well as hand sanitizer, disinfectant wipes, and extra masks. It is a good idea to pack a travel cooler with food. Since money is being saved on airfare, you might consider renting a car for the vacation.
Planning the route.
Even if you have made the drive, arm yourself with information regarding what is currently open. Many rest stops have been closed, and the spots you like to stop to eat maybe undergoing temporary closures. Make technology your travel companion by using apps like Road Trippers and Around Me that will assist you with finding places along the way.
Keep The Kids Busy.
Make a boredom bag ahead of time. Take a hanging travel cosmetic case and hang it from the seat back in front of where your children are sitting. Fill each pocket with small, age-appropriate activities, healthy snacks, and drinks in reseal-able water bottles. I am not a fan of juice boxes because once the straw punctures it, there will be a sticky mess if all of the juice isn’t consumed.
